Whiskers on Roses
Inspired by the medium of paint and the history of abstract painting, these new works experiment with compositional elements of pattern and colour.
My objective was to create something new and engaging by combining different patterns and colours within the same picture. These experimental paintings explore opposites like the spontaneous mark alongside the deliberate, dark colours contrasted with fluorescent pigments, masses of colour juxtaposed with fine ribbons or scribbles of paint. The paintings do not seek a clear connection to reality or meaning, rather they invite associations with ideas and memories, and create spacious pathways to the imagination.
