Transitions
The idea behind this series surfaced during the Covid pandemic 2020 when the changing boundaries of freedom became real. Enforced restrictions pulled me toward the idea of sequence and repetition toward the comfort of the familiar.
The grid composition of these works provided the foundations for a pattern of repetition. Here the creation of painterly shapes interplays in a composition that shows similarities of colour within the picture frame yet identifiable differences between the grid sections. Intentional changes of composition reflect the changing pattern of life and show how disruption can break the normal course of continuation.
This series was initially exhibited as a virtual exhibition during Melbourne’s lockdown on Kunstmatrix project spaces. I am pleased that they are going to be exhibited at Frankston Arts Centre on the Mezzanine level from the 18th November 2021,
